Postdoctoral Research Assistant
GRADE 7 (£26,666)
We seek a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Structural Bioinformatics to carry out research and
develop techniques for protein target selection and interpretation of structures determined by X-ray crystallography. One aspect of the work will be to contribute to further development of the TarO
target optimisation system (http://www.compbio.dundee.ac.uk/taro) and integrate TarO with the PiMS LiMS system (www.pims-lims.org).
Requirements: Programming/analysis within biological/bioinformatics research. Expert in one or more
of: C/C++/Java, MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle, Perl/Python, WebServices/SOAP (Linux environment). Desired: Publication record in bionformatics/structural biology.
The Postdoctoral Research Assistant will join the bioinformatics research group of Professor Geoff
Barton in the 5* rated School of Life Sciences Research in the College of Life Sciences, University of Dundee. The group has excellent office space and computing facilities for bioinformatics
research as well as technical and systems support staff.
This position is funded by BBSRC SPoRT for 18 months and is available immediately.
