All files associated with this package are Copyright Geoffrey J. Barton (1987,1997), but available to anyone providing they cite the appropriate publications
shown in the manual in any work they may use the software for, or if they incorporate the program in any system.

The BUILD script shows the order in which the various makes should be
done.

From June 2002, Linux is the standard distribution and this is the only one
I have tested, so please type:

BUILD linux

to build the linux installation. You will need a recent gcc compiler for this
I just built with g77 from version 3.1 of the gcc compiler distribution.

The BUILD will put executables in the ./bin directory. It is up to you to copy
or link them to somewhere on your path.

I no longer support VMS!! If you want to use under VMS, you are on your own. Is there anyone out there still using a VAX? I doubt it!

There is no support for windows, but the system might compile under cygwin. I've not tried, but let me know if you succeed.

SEE THE FILES /doc/tex/amps.ps and amps.pdf FOR INSTRUCTIONS ON USING THE PROGRAMS IN THIS
PACKAGE.

An overview of using AMPS in a very simple way is shown in the file
amps_ambo.doc.

Any problems send e-mail to me, but bear in mind this is software mostly written15 years ago which has had only minor updates since then.
