IMPORTANT!!

scanps is distributed with a number of alternative binaries.
For maximum performance, it is important that you run
the correct binaries for your Silicon Graphics hardware.

The performance improvements with the correct binaries can
be dramatic, often a factor of 3 to 5 on the same hardware.

You can find out what type of CPU your computer has by
typing hinv.

The optimum combinations should be:

1. For R5000 R8000 and R10000 series CPUs running IRIX 6.2
or later. Use the binaries in bin/sgi_6.2.

2. For R4000 series CPUs (e.g. R4400, R4000, R4600 etc), then
use the binaries in bin/sgi_6.2_mips3.

3. For computers running IRIX 5.3 then use the binaries in
bin/sgi_5.3.

Notes:

No parallel binaries are available for IRIX 5.3.

FULL installation instructions are in doc/scanps.doc.
